Thieves raid Pets at Home and steal veterinary drugs and cash

Four men raided a Pets at Home store and stole cash and veterinary drugs.

Police were contacted at 8.50pm yesterday (Monday, February 22) after reports that men had forced entry to the Southport store on Marine Parade and carried out an "untidy search."

They also entered the Vets4Pets surgery within the store and stole a quantity of cash and veterinary drugs before making their escape in a black Ford Fiesta.

A safe containing the drugs was later found burnt out on the car park of Dobbies Garden centre on Bentham's Way in Southport.

People took to social media to report a large police presence at the store last night.

An investigation is underway and CCTV and forensic enquiries have been carried out in the area.

Detective Chief Inspector Gayle Rooney said: "I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Marine Parade at 9pm last night who saw or heard anything suspicious to contact us.

"I would also ask anyone who was driving in the area to check their dash-cam in case they captured anything significant."
