Thieves nick £70K worth of bikes and equipment from Fort William festival

Police are appealing for information after thieves made off with £70,000 worth of bikes and equipment from a festival in Fort William.

The crooks nicked the high value items from the Nevis Range and Torlundy area as crowds gathered for the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup event this weekend.

The items were stolen between 7.30pm on Friday, May 20 and 7.45am on Saturday, May, 21.

Damage was also caused to vehicles involved in the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup event.

Detective Sergeant Louise Thewlis said: "We are appealing for anyone who was in the area of Nevis Range and Torlundy at the time who may have witnessed anything or has any information about the whereabouts of the bikes and equipment to get in touch.

“You can call Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 0798 of 21 May, 2022 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
