Thieves destroy disabled man's car in Midlothian after stealing from home

A car specially adapted for a disabled man has been written off after thieves stole it from the family home, before crashing it into a ditch.

The red Kia Sportage was taken from Gorebridge in Midlothian on Saturday night following a break-in.

It was found a few hours later completely destroyed near Dalhousie Castle.

Louise McKnight said the car was her father's only means of getting out and the theft had left him "virtually housebound."

She posted on Facebook: "My dad's car has been found written off near Dalhousie Castle. Please if anyone has heard or seen anything please let us or the police know.

"There's nothing much to salvage from the car it is completely totalled but hopefully we can bring the wee sh**s to justice."
