DIBRUGARH: Thieves allegedly smashed the window of a parked car here in broad daylight on Saturday and decamped with Rs 1.05 lakh of cash, a mobile phone and a gold chain.
According to police, the incident happened after a group of five women teachers from Sacred Grove Academy, Dibrugarh, came to the Chowkidinghee playground in a car at around 11.30am to watch the ongoing cultural and ethnic festival.
Sources said the teachers parked the car (AS-06-U-4481) outside the playground and went inside. After an hour they came out and found that one of the car windows had been smashed and their hand bags, which they had left behind, were missing.
