Thieves caught leaving retail park with £550 worth of stolen goods in car

Two thieves were caught driving away from a retail park in Tameside with more than £550 worth of suspected stolen items.

Police stopped the car as it left the Crownpoint shopping park in Denton yesterday (November 22). Officers discovered the stolen goods inside.

The two people in the car were arrested for six theft offences, police said. One of the suspects was also arrested for driving without insurance.

The vehicle was seized and police returned the items back to the stores on the retail park. A post shared on the GMP Tameside Facebook page said: "*ARREST* Two suspects were arrested on the 22/11/2022 after they made off in a vehicle at Crown Point North in Denton, stopped whilst leaving the retail park by #Denton North East Neighbourhood officers.

"The two suspects were arrested for 6 theft offences totalling £550, after stolen goods were found inside the vehicle. One of the suspects was further reported for driving with no insurance and the vehicle was seized using Section 165 of the Road Traffic Act 1988.

"All the stolen goods inside the vehicle were returned to the relevant stores on Crown Point North, Denton."
