Thief shamed by warning note stuck in grass at side of road

A group of volunteers have left a message for thieves who stole flowers they had kindly planted.

Bootle Action Group works to make Bootle a nicer place to live.

The group regularly organises litter picks, clears up grot spots, and organises community events.

Most of the local community applauds the group's efforts - but it appears not everybody appreciates them.

Signs have appeared along a grass verge on Southport Road, after flowers the group planted were stolen.

The notes read: "We hope you enjoy the plants that you have stolen.

"This makes you a thief. If you had asked we could have given you some and [you could have] left these for people to enjoy."

The notes also say they were left from Bootle Action Group and "not Sefton Council".
