Arsenal have been given a boost in their attempts to solve their striker crisis, as Alexander Isak’s admiration for the north London side has reportedly been declared.
According to Spanish outlet El Nacional, Real Sociedad do not want to sell the striker to their rivals in Barcelona and would prefer to sell him to a club outside of La Liga.
The Gunners are in desperate need of a striker as an emerging forward crisis is starting to brew at the club, with shortages in the position looking a certainty.
The report by El Nacional goes on to say that Arsenal loves the player and are willing to offer money upfront for Isak, giving them another advantage over Barcelona.
Arsenal's love for Isak is certainly reciprocated, which was proven when the 22-year-old spoke about Gunners legend Thierry Henry.
Speaking to Swedish YouTube channel Min Stora Dag, he said: “I have a lot of football players who I have looked up to and have taken a lot from. But if I have to name one I would say Thierry Henry who I have really liked all the time and where I see many qualities that I have tried to follow.”
Isak currently plays for Real Sociedad and scored 40 goals in 110 appearances for the La Liga side. He has attracted the attention of many clubs around Europe with Manchester City also previously linked with the striker.
He has also been impressive for the Sweden national team having scored eight goals in 31 matches, and taking on the responsibility left by legendary striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
There is an extra incentive for Arsenal to sign him when considering the fact that he will link up with former teammate Martin Odegaard, with whom he created an excellent connection when the Norwegian was on loan at Sociedad.
Odegaard has performed exceptionally in recent times, and his game will only go to a higher level if he gets the opportunity to play alongside a striker he knows well.
With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang tipped to depart the club due to his disciplinary issues and poor form before being banished from the first team, Arsenal need a top-quality striker to replace his goals.
Isak’s dominant build and knack for scoring certainly gives him the opportunity to be Arsenal’s next star.
