Thierry Henry set for managerial return in MLS after Monaco sacking

Thierry Henry is in line for a return to management after his spell with Monaco ended in disaster.

The Arsenal legend was sacked by the Ligue 1 side in January after a nightmare season which saw them fighting relegation at the time of his dismisal.

He lasted just three months at Monaco and won only four games out of 20 in all competitions - but his former club New York Red Bulls could be set to give him a chance to make amends.

According to the Daily Mail , the MLS side are keen on bring Henry back to the club where he spent four years as a player before retiring in 2014.

New York Red Bulls reached the MLS play-offs last season but are struggling under head coach Chris Armas this campaign.

They have just one win and two draws from six games, leaving them ninth in the Eastern Conference and pondering a change.

Despite his Monaco failure, Henry would be a high-profile appointment for the Red Bells after he made a major impression at the club as a player.

Henry went on to spend time as an Arsenal youth coach after his retirement whilst he worked towards his UEFA A licence before becoming an assistant to Roberto Martinez with Belgium in August 2016.

He helped them reach the World Cup semi-finals before departing for Monaco, an experience which has seemingly not put him off management for good.

He scored 52 goals in 135 games for the New York Red Bulls and helped them left the 2013 Supporters' Shield for best regular season record.
