Thierry Henry sends Mikel Arteta message over an Arsenal 'statement' result vs Manchester United

Former Arsenal forward Thierry Henry has said that he wants to see a "statement" victory from Mikel Arteta's side against Manchester United on Thursday evening.

The Gunners have drastically improved so far this season, recovering from a start that saw three losses from the first three games in the Premier League.

However, with a return of players from injury and a core team to select from, Arteta has had his fortunes improve, with his side on the brink of the top four.

Arsenal currently sit fifth and just one point off of West Ham United in fourth, with a victory over United taking them into the Champions League places.

With just one loss in 10, that one being a beating at the hands of Liverpool, Arteta has had his side purring in recent weeks with the most recent victory being a comfortable 2-0 win over Newcastle United.

Speaking on Amazon Prime, Henry has said he expects the Gunners to be winning those sorts of games, and that he wants to see more from them in the big games:

"It showed we can beat Newcastle at home. We can beat Burnley, we can beat Aston Villa before Steven Gerrard arrived. We can beat Leicester with 27% possession.

"I think personally winning against those teams – and I'm not having a go – but I expect it from Arsenal when they play one game a week.

"Now the improvement is can you beat the teams at the top? That’s the improvement I want to see and am waiting to see tomorrow at Old Trafford.

"Every time they play a team they should lose against, they not only lose but they get smashed. The improvement I want to see is can they get top-four?

"I'm an Arsenal fan and I think Mikel Arteta is doing well, but I want to see that improvement.

"Manchester United are not in the top-four but it can be a statement to go there and win and win well.

"We’re talking about Arsenal. I’m not over the moon by a Newcastle win, I want to see them win at Old Trafford tomorrow."

With the Gunners in-form and United anything but, it will be a big clash for Arteta and his side, who are on the verge of breaking into the top four.
