Thierry Henry nominates two Arsenal Invincibles for Premier League Hall of Fame

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has named his two nominations for the Premier League Hall of Fame.

Henry was recently named as of the first two members of the new Hall of Fame, alongside Newcastle United legend and record goalscorer Alan Shearer.

And the Premier League aren't done there, preparing to add six more players, which will be announced after voting closes on May 9.

The league has decided on 23 nominations and asked supporters to vote on their favourite six to decide who will join inaugural members Henry and Shearer.

With that in mind, Henry himself was asked on Monday Night Football who he thinks deserves to join him in the Hall of Fame.

Arsenal's Summer Transfer Approach

And perhaps unsurprisingly, he picked two of his former Arsenal teammates, starting with Dennis Bergkamp.

“Dennis, obviously I could be biased but this guy was an example for me, always wanted to do more, first in training, last in training doing what he was always being asked to do, passionate about arsenal, passionate about the Premier League," he told Sky Sports.

"He made the team better, he made the guys around him better and I always said I don’t know how many guys would have the passion that he had.

"I mention a story about him - one year I remember Arsene was signing players. One year, I remember he came back without a contract, did the whole preseason without a contract. working hard. put his foot in, made every friendly game.”

Henry also nominated former Gunners midfielder Patrick Vieira, adding: "Always people remember Patrick, tackling someone, arguing with someone. For me, he’s the only guy that could have played alone in midfield.

"Play 4-1-5 if you want, I knew when Patrick was going to chase the ball and he was scanning. I’m already getting off my defender because he was going to get that ball, so I'm already on my bike to go because he was going to get that ball.

"And the quality. Sometimes Patrick was doing it on purpose to lift the ball, flick it over people, just passing by them and, I mean, it was just unplayable at times - I don’t know a lot of people that could have done like that everything in midfield.

"I remember a game against Chelsea where we played them on the Sunday and we played them on the Tuesday in the replay in the FA Cup, everybody couldn’t play, he played those two games and he got man of the match in those two games.

"I was looking at him and I say ‘what do you eat in the morning?’ That guy couldn’t even walk at times, but when the ref used to blow the whistle he was unstoppable. What a player.”

The Premier League's list of candidates are: Tony Adams, David Beckham, Dennis Bergkamp, Sol Campbell, Eric Cantona, Andy Cole, Ashley Cole, Didier Dorgba, Les Ferdinand, Rio Ferdinand, Robbie Fowler, Steven Gerrard, Roy Keane, Frank Lampard, Matt Le Tissier, Michael Owen, Peter Schmeichel, Robin van Persie, Nemanja Vidic, Patrick Vieira and Ian Wright.
