Thierry Henry makes Manchester City the Premier League title favourites despite attacking weakness

Thierry Henry believes Manchester City have what it takes to retain the Premier League despite not having what many others believe no recognised striker.

City legend Sergio Aguero left in the summer on a free transfer to Barcelona and the summer pursuit of Tottenham striker Harry Kane ended with the England captain staying in north London.

The lack of no real number nine in the team hasn’t stopped City from being one point behind league-leaders Liverpool six games into the 2021-2022 Premier League season.

Twelve goals in that space of time has meant that player-turned-pundit Henry believes Pep Guardiola’s side can win the league this season.

“Yes [they are the team to beat] and what they did against Chelsea and what Chelsea has been doing since the beginning of the season,” Henry said on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Footballl show.

“People are asking me can he win the league again without a number nine?

“He did it already, can he do it again? Yeah I think so. Gabriel Jesus will operate as a nine sometimes he won’t, the way they played against Chelsea was second to none, what a display.”

The manner in which City saw off title-rivals Chelsea on Saturday has led many to believe Guardiola will add to his three Premier league titles in the five years he has been in Manchester.
