Thierry Henry has signed up to be part of the BBC’s Euro 2016 coverage in France next summer.
Henry, who joined Sky as a pundit at the start of 2015 having worked for the BBC during last year’s World Cup, won the European Championship with France in 2000.
Henry, who will work as part of a presentation team led by Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer during the tournament, said: “I really enjoyed the World Cup in Brazil and it was a completely different experience as a pundit rather than a player.
“I am enjoying my broadcasting work and look forward to being part of the BBC’s team … It is a tournament that is very close to my heart, having won it 15 years ago, and the fact it is being held in France will make it an extra special experience.”
Among the games covered by the BBC will be England’s game with Wales at Stade Bollaert-Delelis in Lens on 16 June, with both teams hopeful of progressing from Group B ahead of Russia and Slovakia.
Northern Ireland’s opening Group C match against Poland in Nice and final group game against world champions Germany at Parc des Princes, Paris, will also form part of the BBC coverage.
ITV will show the opening match of the tournament between hosts France and Romania on 10 June as well as England’s first and final group games against Russia and Slovakia.
The Republic of Ireland’s first Group E fixture against Sweden in Saint-Denis on 13 June will be broadcast by the BBC.
ITV will have first pick of the games in the last 16 as well as the semi-finals, while the BBC has the first two picks of the quarter-finals. The final in Paris on 10 July will be live on both channels.
