Thierry Henry has given Edu the incentive to sign £31.5m Ligue 1 star to solve Arsenal dilemma

Arsenal have been given a boost in their potential attempts to sign Jonathan David after it has emerged that he has been a long-time admirer of the Gunners.

The Canadian is currently rated as one of the world’s best young strikers, after his great start to the season, which has been on show in the Champions League.

Arsenal have an emerging striker crisis at the club and the signing of a forward will be imperative in the summer transfer window.

David certainly seems like an attractive candidate to solve Mikel Arteta’s striker crisis due to his ability but the admittance of his support for Arsenal has added another incentive.

"European clubs made me dream," he told L’Equipe earlier this year.

"I watched Barca a lot, Arsene Wenger ’s Arsenal, with Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira."

At just 21-years-old, the Canadian international already has 10 goals, in 15 Ligue 1 games this season, which is the highest in a league that boasts the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi.

Whilst the youngster confirmed that he has been an admirer of Arsenal, the club are interested in him according to The Athletic, that state the club have been a long-time admirer of the young striker.

Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette’s contracts are set to expire in the summer, and it seems like a certainty that both strikers will be departing.

This will leave Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Folarin Balogun as the only senior strikers at the club, with the latter likely to go out on loan to gain more first-team experience.

This will likely make the pursuit of signing a striker a priority in the summer transfer window, David who is currently valued at £31.5m on transfermarkt definitely fits the bill.

Not only is he a fan of Arsenal with fantastic ability, but he also follows Edu’s recruitment plan of signing promising players under the age of 23. In recent times these types of signings have worked a treat, as Arteta’s young side are currently exceeding expectations.
