Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has established himself as one of the best strikers in Europe since moving to Arsenal from Borussia Dortmund in January 2018.
The Gabon forward was signed in a deal worth £56 million to replace the goals lost after Alexis Sanchez left for Manchester United, and the 30-year-old has not disappointed since joining.
Aubameyang has scored 61 goals in 96 appearances in all competitions during his time in north London, and won the Premier League Golden Boot last season.
The forward's importance to the Gunners was evident when he was named club captain after Granit Xhaka was stripped of the armband earlier in the campaign.
Big money signings do not always work out, but one man who predicted that Aubameyang would always succeed at Arsenal is the club's all-time top scorer Thierry Henry.
The Gunners legend notched 226 goals in 369 appearances during his time at Arsenal, and won two Premier League titles under Arsene Wenger.
And Henry was always confident that Aubameyang would follow in his footsteps after moving to Arsenal.
“At the end of the day, you need to score goals,” Henry told Sky Sports News when Aubameyang joined from Dortmund.
“If they come from outside of the box or not, it is what it is.
"I back him to be a success for Arsenal Football Club and that’s the most important thing.”
Off the pitch however, Aubameyang's future at Arsenal is less than certain, with the striker having less than 18 months to run on his deal at the Emirates.
With no progress on talks over a new contract, Arsenal face the prospect of losing their star asset for nothing if he runs down his deal.
Barcelona are one of several clubs interested, with sporting director Eric Abidal previously admitting that the La Liga side are admirers of the forward.
Recent reports have also linked Manchester United with a summer move for the former Dortmund striker, but Aubameyang has always reiterated his commitment to the club.
Speaking in January, the forward moved to quash the rumours which circulated during the transfer window.
“I would also like to react to some of the rumours that are going around about me in the media," he wrote in his matchday programme column.
"People like making up stories and they should focus on what’s happening on the pitch. They talk too much and it does my head in!
“I am the Arsenal captain. I love this club. I am committed to it and desperate to bring it back to the top, where it belongs.”
