Thierry Henry is reportedly joining forces with Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Vieira to help Daniel Ek's Arsenal takeover bid.
During the Gunners' 1-0 defeat at home to Everton on Friday night, the Swedish billionaire - the co-founder of the music streaming device Spotify - declared his interest in buying the club from Stan Kroenke.
"As a kid growing up, I’ve cheered for @Arsenal as long as I can remember," Ek wrote on Twitter. "If KSE would like to sell Arsenal I'd be happy to throw my hat in the ring."
However, KSE have already insisted that they have "no intention" of selling the club that is worth now more than £2billion.
In addition, with Ek's net worth in the region of £3billion, it is probably not enough to make them an offer they cannot refuse.
This is where Henry could play a vital role.
The Telegraph report that the Gunners' all-time leading scorer, along with Bergkamp and Vieira, could now be involved in a possible takeover with the hope the presence of the Invincibles will put pressure on KSE to sell up, particularly given the fan discontent which led to mass protests on Friday.
If this joint effort is successful, manager Mikel Arteta might be given the platform to take the north London outfit to the next level - provided he is backed in the transfer market.
And interestingly, one of the people behind the takeover bid has predicted that the Spaniard's process "will explode soon".
"Right now, the squad is good. Can it be better? Yes. Was there progress? Yes, I think there was progress," Henry said on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football show after Arsenal's north London derby win over Tottenham last month.
"Is there any structure, are they doing better? The table doesn’t lie, at the end of the day.
"They’re still behind Tottenham although they won yesterday, you’re still behind Tottenham and a lot of teams.
"But it is a process, that soon is going to explode, hopefully it will explode soon, but consistency is needed."
