Arsenal icon Thierry Henry has suggested that Daniel Ek is ‘here to stay’ amid a failed takeover bid earlier this summer.
The Swedish billionaire, who is the CEO of music streaming service Spotify, was strongly linked with a takeover from the Kroenke family earlier this year.
In the end, a transition failed to come to fruition but Henry - who has been at the forefront of the attempt to buy Arsenal - suggests that Ek has not given up on his hopes of buying the north London outfit.
Talking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, the Frenchman said: “To be able to get there, you need to have someone to respond on either side, it didn’t happen yet. We, he, is here to stay. Let’s see what’s going to happen.
“For the moment, we enjoyed obviously the win yesterday.
“I think it’s going to be long. I think you remember me saying it’s going to be long. How long it’s going to be, I don’t actually know but we are here to stay.”
Ek was spotted in attendance at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday as the Gunners scythed down their north London rivals to move above them in the Premier League table.
It was the first time he has been spotted watching an Arsenal game since releasing a statement refuting suggestions from the Kroenke's that they had not received a bid.
It read: "Inaccurate reports emerged today saying I have not made a bid for Arsenal football club. I think it's important to correct the record.
"This week, an offer was made to both Josh Kroenke and their bankers that included fan ownership, representation at the board and a golden share for the supporters.
"They replied that they don't need the money. I respect their decision but remain interested and available should that situation ever change."
