'Thierry Henry esque!' - Arsenal fans agree after what Gabriel Martinelli did vs West Ham United

Arsenal star Gabriel Martinelli has been likened to club legend Thierry Henry after his goal against West Ham United on Wednesday evening.

The Brazilian attacker, who started his fourth successive Premier League match for the Gunners against the Hammers, opened the scoring just after the half-time break with a really intelligent finish into the bottom corner.

Alexandre Lacazette found Martinelli on the left-hand side with a fine through ball and the 20-year-old opened up his body and finessed the ball past Lucasz Fabianski into the bottom right-hand corner.

It was a reward for Arsenal's dominance in the first-half, with the Gunners perhaps frustrated to go into the break with the game remaining goalless.

Martinelli was one of Arsenal's bright sparks during the match and he capped off his display with a fine finish - with some Gunners supporters comparing the strike to one we were accustomed to seeing when Henry was playing for the north Londoners.

Martinelli has struggled with injury problems throughout his time with Arsenal, but his sheer talent is undeniable.
The Brazilian earned his place in the Arsenal XI when he came on against Newcastle United last month and scored for the Gunners in their win against the Magpies.

Mikel Arteta said after that win that it was a "big moment" for the attacker and the Arsenal boss has been proved right now.

Arteta said: "It is a big moment for him. I’m especially happy for him because how he behaves. Some players are respectful when you make some decisions, and some players are very respectful, like he is.

"He is patient, but at the same time he is really pushing and challenging and it makes every decision that you make even harder because he deserves more and I am really pleased because he really helped the team to get the points today."
