Thierry Henry delivers honest verdict on Arsenal's top-four chances amid Man United loss

Thierry Henry has claimed he has not been overly impressed with Arsenal this season.

The Gunners have enjoyed a fine few months, tasting defeat just twice in their last 13 fixtures including Thursday night's 3-2 defeat at Manchester United.

Speaking ahead of the highly-anticipated clash, Arsenal icon Henry has claimed that Mikel Arteta's side haven't done anything unexpected this term.

Speaking to Amazon Prime, he said: "It depends who they’re playing but what I’ve seen before, I’ve said it this year, apart from the Brentford game where I was surprised with the result the other two I wasn’t too surprised.

"The run after. I wasn’t surprised, playing one game a week. The way they played against Liverpool, I wasn’t surprised. What I want to see is an Arsenal team that are going to come here and make a statement against a strong Man United side.

"Are they heading in the right direction against a team they’re supposed to beat with a one-game a week situation? Yes. When they are playing a big team they’re not heading in the right direction because we usually get smashed. We don’t lose, we get smashed."

The Frenchman also hailed Hale End academy graduates Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka, claiming that the youngsters were two players he could 'relate to.'

"You need to aim for top four and have that status to bring players after. Money obviously, financially, is a big step.

"But bring players to come to Arsenal. Bukayo Saka, Smith Rowe, and I know I’m talking about improvement, when I watch Arsenal those are the two guys I can relate to. I can see that it matters to them.

"Those are the two players that make me watch Arsenal more than the others."
