Thierry Henry analyses why Sadio Mane failed to score for Liverpool vs Wolves

Thierry Henry believes Sadio Mane should have scored for Liverpool in the first-half against Wolves.

Mane was fed through by Gini Wijnaldum and found himself one-on-one with Rui Patricio, with the score at 0-0.

The Reds ' number 10 then elected to try and go around the Wolves goalkeeper with his left foot, but the Portuguese shot-stopper got a crucial hand to the ball.

This then forced Mane wider than he'd have liked, where he picked up the ball and shot, only for it to be blocked.

Henry, who was on punditry duty for Sky Sports' coverage of the clash at Molineux, knows better than anyone what to do when clean through on goal.

The Arsenal legend believes Mane pushed off with the wrong foot, which then made it harder for the Liverpool forward to put the visitors a goal up in the Midlands.

“He could have done better. It can always be better," Henry explained.

"He does ever so well to stay onside, but can he shoot when the ball is in front of him there? Yes, he decided not to shoot and go around the ‘keeper. One of the most difficult things for a striker is when you have time.

"This, for me, is where he should have gone with his right foot instead of his left because you open yourself the goal, you have the angle and then you finish with your left, but because he pushed with his left - his non-dominant leg, running at full speed - you will see, how can he shoot now?

"It’s virtually impossible to shoot because he didn’t push the ball well. Jamie (Carragher) will tell you: when you’re a striker, midfielder or defender, when you’re running at full speed, you’ve always going to use your dominant leg.

"Do not lose the flow of your run, if you push the ball with your right foot, you can always finish with your left.”
