Tennis welcomes its first new grand slam champ in six years as Thiem beats Zverev in a fifth-set tie break

Austria's Dominic Thiem has come from two sets down to beat Germany's Alexander Zverev in an epic US Open men's singles final.

The 27-year-old won 2-6, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 7-6(8/6) to become the first winner of a grand slam tournament other than Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal or Novak Djokovic since 2016.

Marin Cilic was the last first-time major winner back in 2014.

Thiem becomes the first man in 70 years to come back from two sets down to win the US Open final.

More to come.
