Thief who stole deoderant from Ayr's Wilko vows to change ways

A man who stole deoderant from a high street retailer wants to turn his life around, his solicitor claimed in court.

Craig Ferguson, 41, of Viewfield Gate, Ayr, appeared from custody at the town’s sheriff court on Tuesday, September 3.

He previously had admitted stealing a quantity of deoderant from Wilko, on High Street, Ayr, on December 22 last year. Sentence was deferred.

His defence solicitor said to Sheriff Mhari Mactaggart: “His experience is one of a cycle of home, prison, back out and back in again. But he wants to change that. He feels able to rehabilitate but he is the only one who can get out of this cycle.”

Sentence was deferred until October 10 in order to assess his suitability for a rehabilitation course.
