Thief 'uses sneaky tactic' to break into paramedic's car

A thief is believed to have used a sneaky tactic to break into a hard-working paramedic's car leaving her "feeling sick."

Nickie Broomfield, 36, was at home with her children in Milford Drive, West Derby, when a man was recorded on CCTV opening the door of her Nissan Qashqai car in the early hours of Friday morning.

Nickie said the man was recorded simply opening the driver's door at around 4:15am, and she believes he used a signal jammer to block her from locking the door earlier in the day.

She said: "I always, always lock the door.

"I walk up the drive and press the button about 10 times. Watching the CCTV, he doesn't appear to be walking round trying car doors, he doesn't seem to be hiding and waiting, he just seems to walk straight up to my car.

"It was like it was targeted. I think he has known my car would not lock."

The man was able to steal some loose change and a bank card.

Mum-of-two Nickie, who works for the North West Ambulance Service, said Merseyside Police had been out to the house but were unable to lift any fingerprints from her vehicle.

She said: "It honestly makes me feel sick.

"I work hard to pay for things and to think I was just at home with my children is quite upsetting."

Anyone who has any information about the theft is asked to contact Merseyside Police on 101.
