Thief speeds off with van full of parcels as delivery driver makes a drop off

Quick-thinking police in Bury saved the day when a van full of people's parcels was stolen.

The delivery man driving the vehicle yesterday afternoon (Wednesday) had left it running.

When he got out of the vehicle, a thief climbed inside and drove away.

Luckily, traffic officers managed to track down the van within 15 minutes on Station Road, Stoneclough, and discovered someone moving the parcels to a separate vehicle.

The suspected thief ran from the scene but police were able to recover all the missing packages.

In a series of tweets, a spokesman for GMP's Traffic Unit said: "Delivery man had his vehicle stolen in Bury whilst he left it running. "Luckily traffic located the van within 15 mins and in the process of parcels being moved to another van.

"Offender was quicker on foot but all parcels recovered along with the van.

"If you're sat awaiting in for your Amazon parcel then it might be late but you can thank GMP Traffic that you'll still be getting it at all.

"Vehicle and parcels located/recovered on Station Rd, Stoneclough."
