A man in his 80s had money he had just drawn out of a supermarket cash machine snatched by a thief who then fled on foot.
The heartless theft happened outside the Asda superstore in St Helens on Tuesday night, January 26.
The elderly man in his 80s was taking cash from the ATM outside Asda on Kirkland Street when a man approached.

It is understood the thief distracted the man while taking his cash from the machine.
The thief is then said to have made off on foot.
The elderly man was not injured during the theft.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We’re appealing for witnesses following a theft in St Helens on Tuesday, 26 January.

"It was reported that at around 9pm, a man in his 80’s was withdrawing cash from an atm outside Asda, Kirkland Street, when a male approached and took the money from the machine, before making off on foot.
"The victim was not injured during the incident."
