Thief smashes their way into Salford shop... and walks away with a microwave

This is the damage caused by a thief as they smashed their way into a shop - before nicking a microwave.

Police were called to The Range, at West One Retail Park in Eccles, shortly after 7pm on Sunday (December 15).

It is believed the thief used a brick to smash a glass door.

An investigation has been launched after a microwave was stolen.

A photograph sent to the Manchester Evening News shows extensive damage to a door.

Another door was boarded up in the wake of the incident.

The store was open as usual on Monday morning. Police enquiries are ongoing.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "We were called to reports of a burglary at 7pm on Sunday 15 December at premises on West One Retail Park, Salford.

"Unknown offender smashed glass door with a brick and entered the store before stealing a microwave.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
