Thief goes on THREE WEEK spending spree after stealing vulnerable man's bank card

A thief went on a THREE WEEK spending spree after stealing a vulnerable man's bank card.

Police today issued a CCTV image of a woman they believe can help their probe into the theft from the man who has has learning disabilities and lives in supported living in Toxteth .

The card is feared to have been in the thief's hands for three weeks before it was discovered missing and cancelled.

And although police could not say how much had been taken out of the man's account detectives confirmed a "substantial amount" of money had been withdrawn from cash points across Liverpool.

The cash was withdrawn between April 1and April 23.

Today police urged the woman pictured to come forward believing "she may be able to assist" with the investigation.

A police spokesman said: "Officers were alerted by the mother of the victim who stated staff informed her that the bank card had been missing since Monday, April 1.

"The offender has used the card on a number of occasions at different locations across Liverpool. "

Police vowed to do all they can to catch the thief.

Inspector Bernard McHugh said: "It is not right that a vulnerable man has had a substantial amount of money taken from his account in such a dishonest way.

“We would appeal to the woman in our CCTV image to come forward to help us investigate this matter.

“We take offences like this seriously and we will do all we can to find the offender or offenders and bring them to justice.”
