Thief drives stolen car through garage door of Portage Park dealership: police

A car was stolen May 21, 2020, from Marino Auto Dealership in the 5100 block of West Irving Park Road in Portage Park. | Google Maps

A man allegedly stole a car Thursday by driving it through a closed garage door of a Portage Park dealership.

Three men pulled a gray vehicle into a repair garage about 11:15 a.m. in the 5100 block of West Irving Park Road and one of them stepped out and entered a black vehicle, Chicago police said.

After the men failed to open the garage door, the man in the stolen vehicle crashed through the door, followed by the two others in the car they arrived in, police said.

Media reports showed photos of a broken garage door at the Marino Auto Dealership, located on that block.

Detectives are reviewing surveillance video and no arrests have been reported.
