A thief broke into an Ayrshire home in the dead of night and stole a car, police have confirmed.
The man entered the home on Birklands Wynd in Kilwinning in the early house of Thursday morning.
Cops say the crook spent some amount of time in the area before targeting the property.
The suspect lifted the key to a white BMW 218i Luxury (SF65 ZYN), before driving away in the stolen car.
The suspect is described as being a white man, with a slim build. He was wearing a black jacket with the hood up, blue jeans and a white face mask.
Detective constable Robbie McIntosh, from Saltcoats CID, said: “We’re appealing to anyone with information on this incident, or possible CCTV footage, to please come forward.
“I’d also like to take this opportunity to remind residents to by extra vigilant with their home and vehicle security at all times.
