Thick kettle limescale vanishes 'instantly' with cleaning guru's 30p 'magic' trick

If you're cleaning your kitchen, it can be all too easy to forget about the smaller tasks such as removing limescale from your kettle - but it's so important that you do it.

Limescale is unsightly, and can be even worse if you live in a hard water area, as when hard water evaporates, a substance mainly made up of calcium and magnesium is left behind - otherwise known as limescale.

It won't have an impact on you, but it may have an impact on your hot beverages, as if it gets worse and worse over time, bits of limescale may flake off into your drinks.

But it can be difficult to figure out the best way to get rid of the limescale. Thankfully, one woman took to the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook group to ask the best way to de-scale her kettle, and got some solid advice.

She wrote: "Any help to descale a kettle? I've tried the sachets and they've not worked."

Instead of opting for products that are directly aimed at busting limescale, some people suggested that it was better to use a kitchen staple as it's much cheaper.

Many recommended using white vinegar to rid the kettle of the thick build-up, reports the Express.

One wrote: "White vinegar and boil, did mine this morning, was shocked as it worked the first time."

Someone else commented: "Boil the kettle with white vinegar and water. No need to let it soak. I did my kettle last week and the bottom of it was covered in thick limescale. I boiled water with white vinegar and water and it vanished instantly."

Another said: "I think I actually saw this tip on here. Add equal amounts of white vinegar and water to the kettle and boil up. Certainly did the job for me. Thank you to whoever recommended this."

White vinegar can be purchased from Tesco for as little as 29p, and it works as acid is a good hard water stain remover.
