Thibaut Courtois given Real Madrid boost after Keylor Navas' update on future

Keylor Navas admits he may leave Real Madrid this summer.

The Costa Rican had played second fiddle to Thibaut Courtois for much of the campaign but has returned to the fold under Zinedine Zidane.

He started against Valencia on Wednesday night with Courtois injured but failed to impress as Zidane lost his first match since being reappointed.

It remains to be seen who will be the Frenchman's long-term No.1 with doubts over the pair leading to speculation Real will reignite their interest in Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea.

Navas was asked about his future after the defeat to Valencia and admitted he may move on at the end of the season.

"I will always try to give my best and convince the coach that I should play," Navas said.

"If the coach tells me to go, that's what I'm going to do,

"I have a contract and I want to be here, and my present is at Real Madrid .

"But let's see what happens. Let's focus on finishing the season well."

Real's defeat at the Mestalla saw them lose ground on rivals Atletico in the race to finish second.

It was also their ninth defeat of a disappointing campaign - the same total they suffered in their last two La Liga seasons combined.

"It's a difficult time. It's been a year that has not gone as we had hoped but we must face up to it," Navas added,

"We must face this moment and hopefully that will help us to learn from all the mistakes we have made this year so that we can enjoy what this club deserves in the next few years."
