Thiago Silva stays home as Frank Lampard names 22-man Chelsea squad for Krasnodar trip

Frank Lampard has brought 22 players to Krasnodar for tomorrow's Champions League Group E game but Thiago Silva has stayed in London with the head coach likely to make a number of changes.

The Brazilian centre back has not picked up an injury but Lampard is wary of managing the veteran's playing load during a hectic spell.

That means one of Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen or Fikayo Tomori will partner Kurt Zouma at the heart of the defence. Thiago Silva is expected to return for Saturday's Premier League trip to Burnley

Kepa Arrizabalaga has also stayed at home having picked up a shoulder injury in training last week, while Billy Gilmour continues his recovery from knee surgery and Marcos Alonso is suspended.

As a result of Kepa's absence academy goalkeeper Karlo Ziger has been called-up as third-choice, behind Edouard Mendy and Willy Caballero.

Apart from that there are no surprises in the travelling party, although a number of younger players will be eyeing game time against the Russian side.

Krasnodar will be without up to nine players due to injury and illness, including forwards Marcus Berg, Ari and former Newcastle United midfielder Remy Cabella.

Lampard and Kurt Zouma, who turns 26 today, are set to address the media at 5:30pm GMT (8:30pm in Krasnodar) having flown to Russia this morning.

Chelsea squad in Krasnodar (alphabetical order): Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, Tammy Abraham, Christian Pulisic, Timo Werner, Willy Caballero, Fikayo Tomori, Kurt Zouma, Edouard Mendy, Mateo Kovacic, Olivier Giroud, Mason Mount, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Ben Chilwell, Hakim Ziyech, Reece James, Cesar Azpilicueta, Kai Havertz, Emerson Palmieri, Karlo Ziger.
