Chelsea defender Thiago Silva is ready for the Champions League final.
It is back-to-back finals in the competition for the 36-year-old and he will be hopeful of a better experience than that of last season when his Paris Saint-Germain side were beaten by Bayern Munich.
Manchester City stand in the way of the Brazilian erasing the memories from nine months ago, but it would appear that he is fully focused on the task at hand.
In fact, Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel is in the same boat as the central defender and insists what happened last season will have no bearing on Saturday night's clash.
"It is a different team and a very different situation," Tuchel said in his pre-match press conference. "If I was a player, I wouldn't like my coach to talk about his personal experience in the last year.
"If I was a player, that would only help me if we had that experience together that we could share, use and grow from it.
"But, like you said, for me and my staff, the experience is a crucial thing.
"After every match I am a smarter coach with more experience.
"We are here to win the trophy. Maybe as the slight underdogs but this does not change anything and we want to leave Porto with the trophy."
That message has been taken on board by Thiago Silva who has been active on social media with a simple four-word message.
"Match Day! Let’s go," he wrote on Instagram.
Thiago Silva is in contention to start this evening with no fresh injury concerns for head coach Tuchel.
The Blues go into the game on the back of a 2-1 loss against Aston Villa on the final day of the Premier League season last weekend, a result that fortunately did not cost them a top-four place.
As a result, the pressure is slightly off as Chelsea's participation in the competition doesn't depend on lifting the Champions League trophy for a second time.
