Thiago Silva makes Chelsea transfer feelings clear in Mauricio Pochettino message

Thiago Silva has told new Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino he wants to stay at Stamford Bridge to help the first part of his rebuild. football.london reported earlier this month that multiple unnamed clubs from Saudi Arabia were interested in signing the veteran defender and have made contact with the Blues.

Silva was named Chelsea's Player of the Season despite the club enduring their worst Premier League campaign in history. The 38-year-old has been hampered by injuries but remains a key member of the squad and has recently quashed speculation linking him with a move away from west London.

Silva turns 39 in September and there has been uncertainty over whether he will still be at Stamford Bridge next season. Pochettino will have six centre-backs at his disposal when he officially becomes manager on July 1, with the club looking to cut down their wage bill and squad size this summer.

However, the Brazilian feels he can still play at the highest level and does not want to leave the club ahead of next season, as per the Evening Standard. Silva's family are settled in London with his sons, Isago and Iago, both playing in the Chelsea academy whilst his wife, Belle, is also understood to enjoy living in the capital.

Pochettino has some tough decisions ahead of him with Levi Colwill set to return to Stamford Bridge after an impressive loan spell with Brighton. The Argentine is said to be planning for next season with Colwill in his squad, yet there will still be four other options in central defence.

Kalidou Koulibaly has failed to impress after signing from Napoli last summer with reports suggesting the Blues are open to moving the Senegalese defender on ahead of next season. The £33million signing is on almost £200,000-a-week at Stamford Bridge and is reluctant to leave after just a year in west London.

Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile are unlikely to be sold after signing long-term contacts in the last 12 months following big-money moves. This leaves Trevoh Chalobah with an uncertain future despite his versatility proving to be a crucial asset in the wake of Reece James' injury woes.

In an interview with Chelsea's official website, Silva has discussed his love for Chelsea and has now hinted that he could extend his contract at Stamford Bridge when talking about his son, Isago, renewing his deal with the club. "The club is really important to all of us – it’s a mutual love," the veteran defender said.

"The whole family have fallen in love with Chelsea. My sons, Isago and Iago, both play for Chelsea.

"Isago has extended his contract here for the next two seasons, which means we are going to be here for two years. We just hope it’s more!"

Silva's comments suggest he could potentially extend his deal until 2025 to remain in London for the duration of his son's contract with the Blues. This will heavily depend on what Pochettino has planned for the squad this summer though as he looks to reduce his options across the team.
