Thiago explains 'emotional' reaction after Alisson goal for Liverpool

Thiago Alcantara has revealed he has never seen anything like Alisson Becker’s last-gasp winner for Liverpool against West Brom.

The Reds won a corner in the final minute of stoppage time and Alisson rose to glance Trent Alexander-Arnold's delivery into the far corner of the net.

Hal Robson-Kanu had fired the hosts ahead after just 12 minutes before Mohamed Salah drew his side level just after the half-hour mark at The Hawthorns.

It is the first time a goalkeeper has scored a competitive goal for the Reds in their entire history and speaking afterwards Thiago admitted he had never experienced a moment like it.

He said: “We have to watch and re-watch that goal because it’s so emotional for us, not just for our Champions League chances but for Alli with what we has been through this year, so we are so happy for him.

"He’s a beloved teammate for all of us. He has faced it with a strength I have never seen in my life.

"I’ve been in many great teams with many great forwards but I’ve never seen the quality and timing of the header from Alli, the cross was amazing as well, everything was great.

"I have never seen anything like that - we have watched goalkeepers score these kinds of goals but never seen it for myself. Happy with our performance but so happy for him.

"A gift he has given us, he brought that for us today, we had this luck at the end.

"Very important because we are fighting for top four and secondly because of him, he's a great guy so important to us and it's been a tough year for him so we're happy for him."

The victory moves Liverpool a point behind fourth-placed Chelsea in the Premier League table, but Thiago has refused to get carried away.

"Depends on us, with this win we have our chance, two more but we have Burnley first of all," he said when asked about top-four qualification."
