Thiago delivers Gini Wijnaldum verdict after Liverpool star's display against Wolves

Thiago took to social media to deliver a glowing verdict of Liverpool teammate Gini Wijnaldum after the midfielder's "outstanding" performance against Wolves.

Wijnaldum, 30, produced a typically accomplished performance in a comfortable 4-0 victory for the Reds on Sunday night.

The Dutch international capped his tireless display with a stunning strike for Liverpool's second goal, bending in from just outside the box to finish a lethal counter-attack just before the hour mark.

The result means the Reds kept pace with Tottenham at the top of the Premier League table with a win in front of the 2,000 fans who returned to Anfield.

Wijnaldum was delighted to mark the occasion with a goal and took to Twitter after the match, writing: "What a night to have the fans back. We’ve missed you #YNWA #LIVWOL."

In response, Thiago hailed his teammate's performance, writing: "Outstanding bro."

The midfield duo have played just over 45 minutes of league football together since Thiago's £20million arrival from Bayern Munich last summer.

The Spaniard came off the bench for an eye-catching second-half cameo in Liverpool's 2-0 win at Chelsea in September, before Wijnaldum made a substitute appearance in the 2-2 Merseyside derby draw.

Thiago sustained a serious knee injury at Goodison Park and Jurgen Klopp confirmed the 29-year-old may not be back until the new year.

"I can't say exactly when he will be fine, but it will take a few weeks still with Thiago," said the Liverpool boss in late November.

Meanwhile, Wijnaldum has featured in all of Liverpool's league games this season but is out of contract on Merseyside next summer.

The former Newcastle man refused to be drawn on negotiations over a new deal after the match, but left the ball firmly in Liverpool's court.
