Liverpool's difficult season reached a new low when they were beaten in dismal fashion at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.
The Reds were second-best for the duration of the Premier League game as they slumped to a 3-0 reverse. The result means Jurgen Klopp’s side are still waiting for their first league win of the calendar year after four games without a victory.
But there was plenty that went unnoticed or under the radar during the 90 minutes at Molineux.

Thiago gets stuck in
The first half was a sorry affair for Liverpool, particularly given the manner in which they meekly surrendered the initiative to the home side. But it wasn't without a bit of fight.
In one passage of play, Thiago Alcantara first took out Ruben Neves and then Mario Lemina with firm but fair challenges, leaving the pair writhing on the turf in agony. As Wolves complained, the Liverpool man just shrugged his shoulders and informed fellow Spaniard Pablo Sarabia there was no reason for it.
And all this while Wolves forward Hwang Hee-chan was limping around the pitch towards the dressing room after suffering a hamstring problem. Football can be painful, folks.
Defensive talks
That injury to Hwang had led to a lengthy stoppage in the play as he underwent treatment. And that allowed for an impromptu meeting in the Liverpool defence.
Centre-backs Joe Gomez and Joel Matip were spotted deep in conversation with goalkeeper Alisson Becker, no doubt discussing how the Reds had gifted Wolves their early two-goal lead.
Meanwhile, the sight of an agitated Jurgen Klopp on the touchline struggling to believe what was happening said everything about the Reds' first-half performance.
Henderson gesture
The looks on the faces of Liverpool's players at the final whistle demonstrated how much this defeat hurt. And it was the same for the travelling Kop, too.
Harvey Elliott, who only came on late in the second half, was among several Reds players who trekked over to the visiting end after the final whistle to thank them for their support.
And one lucky young fan was given the matchday shirt of Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson. A nice touch on a grim day for Klopp's side.
Fans disappoint
If it was another afternoon of misery on the road for Liverpool supporters, such frustration was no excuse for several fans smashing the seats in the away end, as became evident once Molineux emptied.
Not that all the home fans were beyond criticism. Towards the end of the match, a section of the Sir Jack Hayward Stand, rather than celebrating their team's victory, instead chose to air chants related to the Hillsborough disaster that have become increasingly regular at Liverpool games since the pandemic.
Having rejoiced in the tiresome 'Sign on' chant several times earlier in the game, clearly education over such matters hasn't yet reached everyone in that part of the Midlands.
