Thiago Alcantara sends message to LeBron James as Liverpool star enjoys break

Liverpool star Thiago Alcantara has been enjoying his time off during the World Cup.

The Reds are currently on break while the tournament is taking place in Qatar. Seven members of the Liverpool squad are involved in the competition - Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jordan Henderson, Alisson Becker, Fabinho, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk and Darwin Nunez.

However, Thiago was not selected for Spain to be part of their squad for the tournament. As a result, he is enjoying a brief holiday before getting ready to take part in the Reds' ‘pre-season style’ training camp in Dubai next month.

Thiago has jetted over to the United States with his wife, Julia, and was enjoying a sport different to the one taking place in Qatar for the next month. The 31-year-old was in Los Angeles to watch the LA Lakers basketball team in action.

On an Instagram post, Thiago included a series of photos taken of himself and his wife at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles. His caption saw him thank Lakers star and famous Liverpool fan, LeBron James.

Thiago's post simply said “Thx”, while tagging James’ Instagram account in the post, along with those of Liverpool and Maverick Carter, who works as a business partner of the Lakers star.

James held a two percent ownership stake in Liverpool, which was worth around £4.7m in 2011, and increased to £37m in March 2021. At this time he converted his Liverpool shareholding into one percent of FSG's overall empire, which is worth an estimated $90m (£71.6m).
