Thiago Alcantara confident of Liverpool transfer after 'Bayern Munich contract snub'

Thiago Alcantara is reportedly confident of completing a move to Liverpool after he turned down a new contract with Bayern Munich.

The Spanish midfielder has just one year left on his current deal in Germany, and allegedly snubbed fresh terms offered to him by Bayern Munich.

Thiago has also allegedly put his house up for sale in Munich, suggesting he is preparing to leave Germany for good in the summer transfer window.

Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for the midfielder, with Reds manager Jurgen Klopp keeping a close eye on him.

Thiago appears equally as keen on the move, although is yet to open a line of discussion with the Anfield giants.

According to B/R's "Football Ranks" podcast, Thiago is expected to leave, and is 'very sure' he will join Liverpool.

But whether he gets his dream move to Anfield remains to be seen, despite the Reds being his first choice.

Bayern Munich are playing hardball, and want around £35million for Thiago.

Liverpool, on the other hand, have felt the full effects of the coronavirus pandemic, and are only willing to pay £18m to get the transfer over the line.

Liverpool do hold some power in that Bayern will at the very least want to get a transfer fee for the Spaniard, rather than see him leave for free in 2021.

This may see them lower their asking price, but, Liverpool will still likely have to put more money forward to fend off interest from elsewhere.
