Jurgen Klopp has confirmed Liverpool look set to be without both Thiago Alcantara and Naby Keita against Manchester City next week.

And speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of his side's meeting with the Bees, the German offered an update on the duo when he admitted they could both be out until after the October international break.

"It's not 100% clear when Thiago will be back," Klopp told reporters. "It's a muscle in the calf.

"After the international break, probably. I don't think anything earlier is possible. We will have to see.

"Nothing really serious but keeps him ( Naby ) out of the next game for sure. Maybe a bit longer. We have to see there as well.

"It's nothing serious but it's obviously painful and we have to see how we deal with that.

"It's not cool when the players have good pre-season, play a lot of games and then are out.

"That happens throughout the season. Hopefully when they come back, that's it now and they can play the rest of the season."
