"They won't get a word in edge ways!" Susanna Reid makes a dig at GMB co-presenter Richard Madeley as he is confirmed to enter the I'm A Celebrity castle

Legendary journalist and television presenter Richard Madeley has been confirmed as one to the contestants soon to be taking part in the upcoming series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

Good Morning Britain host Susanna Reid had a thing or two to say about her co-presenter's next adventure, however.

Joined by today's guest co-host and former politician Ed Balls, as well as Daily Mirror editor Kevin Maguire and Daily Mail editor Andrew Pierce.

"Finally, we can stop saying we can neither confirm nor deny the fact that Richard Madeley is in the Jungle," Susanna joked. "But yes! Richard Madeley is in the Jungle.

"So, huge good luck to you, Richard. Madeley for the win!"

"We're going to vote for him!" chuckled Ed.

"No one else is going to get a word in," laughed Kevin. "He can talk the hind legs off a donkey - even if they stuff his mouth with bits of ostriches and things that you wouldn't want to eat!"

"Can he deal with rats crawling all over his body?" wondered former Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer, Ed.

"He should have been an MP, and then he could have!" replied Andrew.

The early-morning talk show then showed a video of 65-year-old Madeley speaking from quarantine at a farm in Wales, to which Susanna joked: "What were you saying, Kevin? That they won't get a word in edge ways?

"He's interviewing himself there!"

"You can see the fear, can't you? Behind his eyes!" added Ed Balls.

Richard showed off his new I'm A Celebrity attire, which consisted of some jungle-style walking boots. Presenting the boots from a table top, he says, "They've given us some of the costume - our boots that we've got to wear in the castle.

"Why we've got to wear jungle boots in a castle, I can't guess, unless it's to keep the rats out?"

"I don't want to say this is a bad omen," Susanna then warned. "But new shoes on the table, ooh!

"Let's hope he'd worn them once at least before they were there!"
