Prince William and Kate Middleton have moved into a beautiful new family home with eight bedrooms in Windsor. There’s just one issue, the future king and his family’s move has resulted in two other families being displaced from their homes.
The occupants of houses next door to William and Kate’s new home “were told to move out,” according to an insider who spoke to the Daily Mail. The unnamed, well-connected source went on to say that “I guess they were given somewhere else, but they were told they had to move.” The houses were reportedly very close to the lodge which would be the royal family’s new home which played into why they were asked to leave.
William and Kate’s arrival was a surprise
The occupants of the properties were said to be “surprised at being asked to leave,” indicating that they had not received any kind of forewarning that they would be expected to vacate on such short notice.
“They were not expecting it. Those houses are very close to the lodge, so they’re not going to want any Tom, Dick or Harry living in those houses if there are going to be royals there.”
While it makes sense from a security perspective why the firm would not want William, Kate, and their three children, George, 12, Charlotte, 10, and Louis. 7, to live next door to strangers who could pose a risk. It may be of little consolation to the people whose lives have had to be uprooted in order to accommodate the royal move.
As the source mentioned, they were likely given somewhere else to stay but the exact details of the arrangement will probably remain under wraps. However, while it may have been unexpected, there doesn’t appear to be much drama surrounding the move as no eviction notices were reportedly served and the tenants have since been moved to better or similar housing situated elsewhere in Windsor Great Park.
The Forest Lodge forever home
The Lodge will be quite the upgrade for William and Kate who have been living with their kids in Adelaide Cottage, a cosy four-bedroom abode just four miles from their new home, for the past three years. Of course, the family have seen quite a few hardships during their time living in their old home. It was a week after they moved in that Queen Elizabeth II passed away, then they had to deal with Kate’s cancer diagnosis and King Charles’ diagnosis as well.
No doubt this move will feel like a fresh start for the family and the lodge is quite the upgrade too and it could well be their “forever home,” although that claim has been met with some skepticism by insiders who believe it’s “not grand enough for a King.” Perhaps they family will move once again upon William’s coronation, maybe they’ll kick Andrew out of the Royal Lodge and claim that as their home.
