'They've had a fantastic season' - Dagenham boss gives his verdict on Notts County ahead of FA Trophy clash

New Dagenham manager Daryl McMahon insists his side will respect Notts County in their FA Trophy clash and says the Magpies have had a “fantastic season”.

The two clubs go head to head at Meadow Lane on Saturday as they look to take another step to Wembley in the second round clash.

McMahon was officially unveiled as the Daggers’ new manager last week having taken over from Peter Taylor who was sacked after  a poor run of results.

He is now hoping to breathe life into their season but faces a tough challenge against a Notts side who are unbeaten in eight games in all competitions.

But he says while he accepts Notts have some excellent players, he is concentrating on how Dagenham can plot the downfall of their National League rivals.

“It’s a tough game but anybody can beat anybody in this division,” he said.

“We will go there with a mentality to win.

“We will respect Notts County without a doubt.

“They’ve had a fantastic season, they’ve got some good players  and Neal is a very good manager.

“But it’s about us moving forward.”

McMahon says he has settled in quickly in his new role  after quitting crisis-hit Macclesfield after doing an admirable job against all the odds at the League Two club.

"I've really enjoyed it, it's a really committed, really tentative, and they've worked hard and taken on some new ideas and how we're going to play moving forward.

"We've done lots of work in and around the box, both boxes defending and attacking, which is something I think we need to improve on going into the final bit of season.

"We've implemented the way we want to play in terms of shape, but I won't give that away, and the style of football we want to play.

"We've got a lot of pace and energy in the team so we worked on how we want to use that going forward."
