German artist Olivier Kugler’s previous work includes visiting farms and refugee camps in Burkina Faso for the Guardian. In 2013 he was commissioned by Médecins Sans Frontières to travel to Syrian refugee camps in Iraqi Kurdistan. There he produced a series of illustrations, including the ones on this page, that tell the stories of the people in the camps. Kugler has just been named a winner at the 2015 World Illustration Awards.
