'They're still burning' - Steve Morison hopeful of Cardiff City transfer breakthrough and addresses Kieffer Moore's Bournemouth links

Steve Morison says he's hopeful that Cardiff City will make a transfer breakthrough this week - and insists he's unaware of potential interest in Kieffer Moore.

Cardiff are aiming to bring in several new faces this month, with a full-back capable of filling the hole left by wingback Ryan Giles just one of the items on the agenda.

Morison has previously claimed that 'irons were in the fire' in regards to any potential deals, and, speaking after his side's extra-time win over Preston North End, Morison hinted that he hopes there will be some movement in the coming days.

"The irons are still burning," he replied when quizzed on possible movement.

"Hopefully, fingers crossed, there might be some action next week, now that the FA Cup's done.

"We just need to see what happens."

As well as incomings, there could also be some interest in a couple of Morison's stars from elsewhere over the coming weeks.

Reports have suggested that Moore may well be catching eye of Championship rivals Bournemouth, although Morison says he's not been made aware of any interest in the Wales striker.

"He's always going to have interest," he replied. "He's a really good player. But he's out. He's injured. He needs to concentrate on just getting fit.

"If someone rings me up and tells me something different, we just carry on and we go from there.

"If you've got interest in your players, it's because you're doing something right.

"If someone scores 20 goals in the Championship, he's going to get interest. He's a really good player and he's Wales' number nine.

"So it's no shock.

"Also, if there is interest, it hasn't come to me. It hasn't come to the powers that be."
