'They're called Lorne sausages, ya b**bags' - Aldi mocked over 'new' square sausages

Supermarket Aldi has backed itself into a corner, after appearing to suggest square sausages were a new invention.

Bewildered Scots poked fun at the chain on social media after a tweet saying they would now be selling square sausages.

Aldi's UK account said: "Breakfast just became a whole lot easier… Will you be trying our Sausedge?"

It linked to an article mentioning a product called the Sausedge, available in stores for a limited time as a Fresh Weekly Offer.

Lorne sausages are new to Aldi stores south of the border.
