'They must have some money' - Blackburn Rovers boss Tony Mowbray on 'growing' Bristol City

Tony Mowbray has given his opinion on Bristol City ahead of this weekend's game.

The Blackburn Rovers boss has been complimentary and has pointed to how the Robins have successfully progressed over the last years, both on and off the pitch.

The former Celtic, Ipswich and Middlesbrough defender has also paid tribute to City's recruitment and selling of players, explaining that City have climbed up the Championship despite selling off key players in that time.

City meet Rovers on Saturday hoping to make it four wins in the last five meetings between the two sides.

“I think Bristol City are a club that are growing," he said, as reported on the official Rovers club website.

“I speak a lot about trying to grow Blackburn Rovers and I think Bristol City are a club that have grown over the last four or five years in particular.

“Their squad seems to get stronger despite not spending millions and millions of pounds on the team.

“They spent money on the stadium and the atmosphere that the fans generate is a massive boost for them.

“They have good players and they must have some money to get Kasey Palmer on a permanent deal, because everyone knows how much he was on at Chelsea.

“Lee’s grown the team. His dad managed the club before and there’s a legacy there," he added.

“They have some good footballers and it’s a dangerous game for us, up against the Weimanns, the Brownhills, Diedhiou up front, Kalas at the back.

“It’s the next challenge for us and it’s one we’re looking forward to."
