Everyone’s favorite scream queen (Patrick Wilson) is back as Ed Warren with his lovely spooky wife Lorraine (Vera Farmiga) in The Conjuring: Last Rites. The popular horror franchise is coming to an end with this final installment and what incredible timing.
Ever since The Conjuring was released in 2013, fans have become obsessed with real life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. Their Annabelle case has become a topic of conversation since, you cannot clap in a closet without me thinking about the first film, and then The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It terrified us all.
The fourth and final film in the franchise is Last Rites and is set to bring a demon back into their lives. Ed and Lorraine were young and not as experienced the first time they came in contact with this demon and now, they need to protect their family.
The synopsis for Last Rites is as follows: “The Conjuring: Last Rites delivers another thrilling chapter of the iconic Conjuring cinematic universe, based on real events. Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson reunite for one last case as renowned, real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren in a powerful and spine-chilling addition to the global box office-breaking franchise.”
The latest movie has had some great marketing completely out of their control: Annabelle is back and causing chaos all around the United States because she’s on tour for some reason.
The second film in The Conjuring franchise is the 2014 film Annabelle. The possessed doll has been in possession of the Warren’s at their home in Connecticut ever since. That is, until this year when people decided she needed to be freed for some reason?
Maybe Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson can stop Annabelle in real life?
Look if there is one thing that The Conjuring movie taught me, it is to not mess with the occult. That includes Annabelle. So this movie coming out right as she is running around the country and causing fires, mysterious deaths, and disappearing all on tour is a bit TIMELY. It’s kind of funny that Last Rites is coming out right now.
Maybe people will remember that the Warrens did a lot of great work to save us from the occult and stop ignoring their messaging? Maybe we’ll put Annabelle back in her case and leave her there? Whatever people take away from Last Rites, it does make me happy that there have been movies to detail this incredible couple.
The Conjuring: Last Rites is hitting theaters on September 5!
