'They made me cry': Nottingham ushers in 2020 with fireworks in Old Market Square

To signify the end of a decade, revellers in Nottingham welcomed in 2020 with a buzzing street party and a thumping firework display in Old Market Square.

The New Years' Eve celebrations took place from 8pm until 1am outside the council house while the castle undergoes a £30 million "world class" transformation.

An injection of money into the New Years' Eve party and fireworks - following the downsizing of the Christmas lights switch-on - seemingly paid off as people took to Twitter to express their delight at the display.

Fireworks lit up the council house in an abundance of neon greens, flashes of explosive reds and bursts of electrifying yellows during the 10-minute display while Nottingham-based DJ Jeremy Price hit the decks.
