‘They literally left me with 1 blanket and a cat bed’: Woman hires All My Sons movers. Then they ‘steal’ all her stuff

Moving is one of the most dreaded tasks. One creator says they had a particularly nightmarish experience when their moving company packed up their stuff, then unexpectedly vanished for the night. Meghin (@ex_barista) says they contacted All My Sons in Mechanicsville, Virginia, a week before their move.

The move, they say, entailed stops at three places: Meghin’s, their girlfriend’s, and the new house. They were told that movers would arrive between 1 and 5 p.m. local time.

On moving day, 4:30 p.m. rolled around and they still hadn’t heard from the movers, they say. By then, they were already worried.

“I’m concerned because these guys are going to be super gassed,” Meghin says in one of a series of TikToks about the experience. “This is gonna take forever.”

A little after 5 p.m. local time, the movers arrived, they say. By 9:30 p.m., they’d packed up both apartments.

Meghin was headed to the new house when a text came through to call an All My Sons manager, they say.

The manager had bad news.

“I just gotta let you know that unfortunately we have to take all of your stuff tonight and put it in our warehouse,” Meghin says a manager told them.

The manager reportedly explained, “Unfortunately, it’s too late and we can’t have our guys working so late.”

Meghin was incensed. But there was little they could do except wait.

A long night on a cat bed

This left Meghin in a nearly empty apartment with their plants, an old dog bed, and some things they planned to donate to Goodwill, they say.

“I’m laying on a cat bed with a small blanket and a small pillow for the night because you took all of my stuff,” Meghin says to All My Sons in one of their posts.

The next day, the moving truck finally showed up at the new place.

Meghin’s moving woes weren’t over, however.

“We finally got our stuff,” they explain. “Some of it’s missing, some of it’s damaged. Some of it’s completely [expletive] broken.”

They say the movers also brought in things that didn’t even belong to them. When they pointed this out, the movers reportedly invited them to look in the truck to see if anything else was theirs. Then they offered to let them have those items, they say.

Meghin says they refused and urged the movers to get those belongings to their rightful owners.

The entire experience has left Meghin with a terrible impression of All My Sons.

“Just trying not to think of all the money that was spent,” they say in a post. “…Instead I’m thinking about how I get to sleep on a bed tonight.”

Meghin doesn’t blame the employees, however. In a caption on one of their posts, they write, “I felt so bad for the movers. It was a 19 year old kid and guy in his young 20’s pulling a 12 hour day in 90+ degree heat.”

All Meghin’s ire is reserved for the higher-ups

“No hate towards them, all hate towards management,” they write.

Meghin’s first post about the situation has 1.9 million views as of this writing. In a TikTok direct message, they said they would be filing claims with insurance to get compensated for the damaged and missing items.

“They gave me a discount that totaled to $300, but they charged me for a 3-man crew even though they only sent 2,” Meghin said. “They charged for fuel and transportation time to and from their warehouse where they stored my possessions.”

Meghin says this cancels out the discount since they were still “overcharged.”

“Especially since my girlfriend spent over $200 to buy an air mattress, bedding, and pillows so we had something to sleep on for the night,” they said.

Another said, “I’ve heard nothing but bad stuff about this company for the past few years.”

Over the phone, a company representative told the Mary Sue that it was “unfortunate” this happened and said it was likely an issue with logistics.

All My Sons did not respond to further inquiries sent via Facebook messenger and email Friday afternoon.
