‘They just want you in and out quicker’: Tennessee Texas Roadhouse customers go in restaurant together. Then they get seated at 2 separate tables

When dining at Texas Roadhouse, it’s expected to be bustling with large crowds of people since it’s a popular destination for families and friends. But is there a limit to how many customers can sit at one table?

In a clip uploaded by TikTok creator Haley (@chaptersbystarlight), she sits at a table with her friend’s family. Across from her, she films her male friend on the phone.

“When you call your dad to ask him what steak you normally order cause they sat your family at two tables across from each other instead of together at Texas Roadhouse,” she explains in the text overlay.

Her friend burst into laughter at his father’s reaction, seated at the table further down. Then, she zooms in on the father, who has a tightened jaw and a downturned mouth, his arms crossed, looking annoyed.

Eventually, it seems that Haley’s friend receives an answer. “His dad said ‘filet mignon,’” she writes in the caption.

What did viewers say?

The video has accumulated more than 21,000 views as of Tuesday. Some claimed there were only so many people the restaurant could seat at once.

“[Expletive], I thought this was only happening at the TXRH i work at. They just want you in and out quicker bc there’s only a few tables big enough to seat a party of 8+ together,” one Roadie employee explained. “Servers complain when they do this to, at least me and my co workers do.”

“Yeah cause txrh is not meant for larger parties [than] 8 lol,” another echoed.

A third even shared their similar experience, “Nah. [We’ve] eaten there before (party of 9) and all [sat] together. I also told them I had no requests other than us all sitting at one table, and they did the complete opposite.”

Ultimately, Haley was more puzzled than anything by this. “Lmaoooo I didn’t know but thought it was hilarious cause they didn’t tell us we would have 2 tables,” she said in the comments section. “They were just like here you are.”

Does Texas Roadhouse have seating restrictions?

Most restaurants, including Texas Roadhouse, have limited seating to accommodate all guests. Chowhound states there isn’t a set number across the board, varying by location. However, as the employee mentioned in the comments, the average number is between six and eight people per table. Because bigger parties require extra attention and need more room to fit everyone, some locations might separate or not accommodate at all.

On the other hand, Chowhound offers recommendations. For instance, you can call your location ahead of time to inform them of your bigger party. In addition, you can give them advanced notice by joining their online waitlist. All you have to do is enter your name, contact information, and party size. Furthermore, there are carry-out and delivery options if they’re unable to do this.
